Who is Em North?
By day, I’m a digital marketing professional working for a cruise line.
By night, I play video games, watch wrestling, and occasionally create content about my life lessons concerning money, mental health, and self-improvement.
Always, I’m happily engaged to my beautiful fiancé and parent to an awesome little girl.
Occasionally, I make people laugh.
How did The Em Word come to be?
I’ve recently found an interest in creating video content. I kick-started this with one my favourite games; Minecraft. I started an incredibly small YouTube channel, MorphCraft, where I share distinctly average episodic content for my “New Morphshire” world. But really, this was all just practice for a deeper interest. I was building up experience and confidence in video creation, ready to start “The Em Word”.
What is “The Em Word”?
For me, “The Em Word” has a double meaning. Of course, it’s my voice: the word according to Em, if you will! But there is definitely more than one important “M” word.
Initially, the “M” word was money. Having been on a real journey with my finances, I’d learnt many lessons that had helped me to get out of debt and save enough money to buy our first home. I was keen to create a platform to share my experience, learnings, and tips with anyone going through a similar experience.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realised there was more to my journey than simply reaching financial freedom. Sure, clearing the debt was an incredible feeling, but there was much more to my new-found happiness than money. In fact, it was the result of the work I’d put in to improve my own mental health and to grow as a person through continuous self improvement.
